Hot In Handcuffs is a book comprised of three different novellas.
Arresting Desire by Shayla Black

Jon has been wanting Lucia ever since he met her two years ago, but he was working undercover at the time and she was too young and inexperienced. So Jon left without ever touching her. Now Jon is back and Lucia doesn't look so young anymore and Jon is bound to prove to Lucia that he does desire and want her.
Lucia always wanted her first time to be with Jon, but when she all but threw herself at him and he denied her she got the message. Now she's about to embark on a trip with her best friend and is determined to lose her v-card no mater what. What she doesn't expect is to see Jon again and looking oh so yummy.
When she is sent a birthday gift from her father who has been dead for the past two years, Jon believes that this may be just the information he needs to help exonerate his brother.
Together they embark on a mission to solve the mystery while at the same time explore the feelings and passion they ignite in one another.
This was story was so good. I now understand what the big deal is about Shayla Black. She completely rocked my world and in such a a good way. I could not stop reading. I was hooked from the first page. She had just the right amount of suspense mixed in with the romance. I like that we were shown a bit of the characters past. I was able to get a good feel for them both. I loved the chemistry between Lucia and Jon. The chemistry between the two was hot and their sex scenes were electric. I will definitely be checking out more from Shayla.

Wow oh wow, but this was one HOT story. There were quite a few parts that had me fanning myself because the scenes between Jared and Darcy were so scorching hot. The passion between them is intense and immediate. It didn't feel phony or rushed at all. Seriously, these two were hot together and I loved it.
There have been a series of arson attacks in Lion's Bay lately and Darcy, one of the towns fire inspectors knows they need to get help with solving the case. So they decide to call in the US Marshall's in for help with the investigation.
Deputy Marshall Jared Cameron has been sent to Lion's Bay to help investigate a series of arson attacks that have been occurring. He never expected to come across bombshell Darcy Michaels in his investigation. One look at Darcy and his blood is pumping and he know that he needs to make his move. She has a fire about her that can't be tamed and Jared just wants some of it.
What was supposed to be a one night stand is quickly turning into more, and neither Jared nor Darcy quite know what to make of it. Both feel an insane amount of passion and desire, but on top of that both are quickly realizing that their feelings of lust are becoming so much more. Will either be able to walk away when the investigation is through?

This was the first time I have read anything by this author and I have definitely been missing out. OMG, but this story was so good. There was just so much pain and emotion flowing between Mica and Colby. And let me just say I will never be able to listen to Hero by Enrique Iglesias again and not think of this story.
I loved the connection between Mica and Cobly. It just jumped off of the page and slaps you in the face. They have a complicated past both with and without the other. Once they were partners in the FBI and shared a special psychic connection. Not only were they working partners, but they were partners in the bedroom and things were pretty hot and heavy. Things were going great until all of a sudden Mica bowed out without an explanation. She never really excepted or understood her psychic gift and it along with her relationship with Colby freaked her out so she ran and has been running for the last fifteen years. Now Mica, a lieutenant in the police force is working on a case that will bring her face to face with the past she longs to forget.
Colby has spent the last fifteen years thinking about Mica. He was in love with her and has never felt the connection that they shared with anyone else. He assumed when she left that she would eventually come back, maybe not to the FBI, but at least to him and what they shared together. But when she stayed away he got the message loud and clear. Now Mica is back and she wants Colby's help solving a rash of gruesome murders. Colby doesn't want to help, he's been out of the FBI for two years after a mission went bad but can't say know to Mica. He knows that without his help something terrible could happen so he reluctantly agrees.
Both soon find that even though it's been fifteen years, the passion still ignites fires and the connection is still strong as ever. Colby is bound and determined to make Mica realize that her curse is indeed a gift and that she won't be able to just walk away for both it and Colby this time.
Overall
This book as a whole was just so freaking good! I normally don't read these authors but you better believe I will definitely be on a lookout for their books from now on. Each novella was so good that I found myself unable to stop reading once I started.
What I liked most about Hot In Handcuffs is that each story felt complete. Even though they were novellas, they didn't feel rushed or as if info was missing. To be honest, I feel so good about each story that I don't even want more. Each had a beginning, middle and end and I feel like I can walk away completely satisfied which normally isn't the case for me when I read novellas. Each story felt like a full length novel and I found myself completely engrossed with each.
My only complaint(it's a small one) is the last story felt as if it didn't mesh as well with the first two stories. The first two stories were very erotic and the last story was not as erotic and definitely more dark. But I still loved it regardless. This book definitely made me fans of each author.

Reason # 546 why you should buy this book: LOOK AT THAT COVER!!! I guarantee it will look really nice sitting on your nightstand or bookshelf. But seriously, this book is a MUST-BUY if you like your erotic romance scorching hot with a good dose of suspense. You can't go wrong when you put three incredibly talented authors together and let them run wild. And run wild they did!

I'm coming late to the Sexy Capers party. This is a series by Shayla Black that I have NOT read. Yes, I know, shocker! And believe me, this is something I will have to remedy shortly. But even, without having read the previous two books I had no problem getting into this story. Jon Bocelli has apparently been working undercover in a mob operation until they were able to crack the case, but the mob boss died in the process and now Jon's brother is in jail for that murder. Jon has to go back now to find some proof that his brother is innocent. And this will put him face to face with Lucia DiStefano, that mob boss's youngest daughter and the object of his lust during his whole undercover work. Not only will he have to ask for her help to save his brother, but he will have to deal with his feelings for her once and for all. And they are hot and dirty! Sexy cop + virgin mob princess = explosive heat!

I don't even know where to begin with this story. The title says it all. End of review. I've only read one other Shadow Stalker novella and it was verrrra hot as well but this one had smoke coming out of ears and sweat forming it was so hot. A series of fires in local business are all hitting home for fire inspector Darcy Michaels. When the crimes are too much for the small town cops to handle it, she calls in the cavalry and Deputy Marshal Jared Cameron and his partner are sent in to investigate. And from page one when Jared met Darcy it was straight to the point "I want you, I'm going to have you". I love strong female heroines and that's Darcy to a tee, but she has such a damaged past that it has made it easy for the wrong people to get close to her. Jared is of course the alpha male that everyone dreams of having, in and out of the bedroom. And even though I thought he would be overprotective and too macho to let her do her job and take care of her issues, he was perfect and gave her the space she needed and the opportunity to show that she can handle her own. Only bad part is that I had the killer pegged from the beginning, but the rest of this story was so good that didn't even take a star away! On Fire had me burning up!

Mica Greer is trying to catch a serial killer. Her only hope right one is a retired FBI agent with a special psychic gift who just happened to be her partner and lover 15 years ago. Colby rejects his gift for all the heartache it has brought him and how difficult it has made his life. But when Mica shows back up in his life asking for help with catching this killer, he has to help her. Whether its because its the right thing to do or because he never got over her and will do anything to be close to her again. If there is one thing that Ms. Walker can do like very few people can is to write a villain that might just give me nightmares. And oh the shudders I felt while being in the mind of this killer. I have new and disturbing images to associate to an otherwise fun song in my head now. Although this story has less heat than the rest, its still an amazing and suspenseful story that will have you glued to every word. As it happens every time I read a book by Ms. Walker, once you start you are sucked in until you finish! And along the way you will go on an emotional roller coaster along with the characters. So great!

KIMBER'S THOUGHTS: I'm a huge fan of this series so I couldn't wait to read Lucia and Jon's story. We got a little taste of them in Book 2, Strip Search, where Lucia's sister Nicki is the heroine. I was totally intrigued by Jon's mysterious character and counted down the days for this release.
Lucia's had more than a crush on Jon for a couple of years but he left her and town when his undercover Mob gig was up. Thing is, he's got it bad for her too but held himself in check for a number of reasons. He's several years old than her, a little rough around the edges, working undercover posing as her Mob boss uncle's hired man, knew she was a virgin and didn't feel worthy of her, she's still finishing school and had some growing up to do. Fast forward 2 years to Lucia's 25th birthday party at her sister's male strip club, and Jon is back in Vegas needing some answers from Lucia that may help get his brother exonerated of charges that he murdered a judge. One look at each other and they are done for, but Lucia is self-conscious of her body since she's not stick thin and wonders why he'd want her anyway. Jon goes to the extreme to make his point that she is exactly what he wants by hauling her over his shoulder and carrying her out of the birthday party caveman style kicking and screaming with high-fives and thumbs up from her family and friends. I loved this scene. It was fun, hot, sexy as hell and shows how Ms. Black is an expert at writing Hot Alpha men who curl our toes. This is a satisfying, fast-moving novella with mystery, great characters, emotion, and first-time long-awaited sex that burns up the sheets. Shayla Black owns a sex scene. So. Damn. Hot. Jon is perfect for her first time, gentle and sweet, yet a bit demanding. You can feel how much he's holding back because it is her first time, which brings me to my only complaint. You get a glimpse of his BDSM tendencies, and I would have loved to have seen more of the DOM side of him, as well as Lucia being his submissive. The story wrapped up nicely, but a longer story with details of Jon's history and him introducing Lucia into the world of BDSM would have made it a perfect story for me. I'm always greedy when it comes to Shayla Black's writing, I can never get enough.

KIMBER'S THOUGHTS: W O W!! This was my first time to read anything by Sylvia Day and I was more than impressed with her writing style, character development, thriller moments, and man, the woman can write a sex scene. Makes me wonder just where the hell have I been to miss out on this amazing author? I could not put this one down until I read the last page. It was truly that good!
This story centers on the sexy as sin Jared Cameron and the strong and capable Darcy Michaels. While someone is setting fires in her small town, Darcy hits a dead end on the investigation and decides to bring in the big guns for assistance. Immediately, she and the Deputy Marshall are attracted to each other and they begin a very steamy and erotic no strings attached fling. No biggie for her since she's not really the commitment type and he'll be leaving town as soon as they catch their bad guy. So, when they begin to have "feelings" for each other after such a short time, they are both caught off guard. Both characters knew what they wanted and had zero problems going after it. They are a great, no-nonsense couple who complement each other on the job and behind closed doors. I am reluctant to give any of the plot away, but take my word for it when I say, there is a good bit of emotion in the story, and I thought Ms. Day did a great job bringing it all together at the end.
Do not let the Novella scare you off. This was over 200 pages that left nothing unturned. On Fire was the complete package for me - A thrilling fast-paced plot with twists and turns, emotional and highly passionate characters, and igniting the sheets intense sex. You will not be disappointed with this one.

KIMBER'S THOUGHTS: This is another first-time author for me and I really enjoyed this short story. Now that I know it is part of a series, I'll be going back and reading the others. This is a love reunited kind of story with characters that piqued my interest from the start.
The story starts off with Colby, an ex-FBI agent, moping around drowning in his sorrows with the memories of a case gone bad due of his actions. Said case resulted in why he's an EX FBI agent. His choice, but he's determined NOTHING could drag him back into that line of work again. His plan is to live the rest of his life with a no brainer job at the beach where he thinks he can push aside and hide his psychic gift. Problem is, no amount of alcohol can get rid of the nightmares or the visions no matter how hard he tries. Mica left the FBI and Colby 15 years ago, works for the local police department where they have had three murders in three weeks with not a lot to go on. Like Colby, Mica doesn't want anyone to know about her psychic gift, especially the people she works with, and she's tried her best for many years to keep it that way. But, when her Captain puts pressure on her to get the FBI special task force involved, the head guy calls in Colby to help, knowing they had a psychic connection and together they can find this sicko who's on a killing spree. Because of their history, neither is excited about working together again but because they don't want another dead body on their hands, they agree to give it a go. It has nothing to do with the fact they've never found anyone who accepts, understands or just fits like they do....yeah, right.
What I loved about this story is the depth of emotion from both characters. I could feel the anguish their unstable gifts were causing, not to mention the penned up lust they still felt for each other. They were a great couple who were perfect for each other in and out of the bedroom. This story was low on the steam but super sexy.
Something else I loved about this story was the eerie factor. I was so creeped out by the bad guy, I actually got shivers reading it. Why am I praising the fact the author could creep me out? Because, that means she did her job as a suspense writer and it adds another level to the story.
I was a little upset when I finished because I wanted more. Ms. Walker did an excellent job with the plot, characters, and writing to wrap it up and nothing was left out. That's what happens when a good story comes to an end. Now, I'm looking forward to reading all the books in the series, and I've added Shiloh Walker as a must read author.
