The content is relevant and up-to-date and provides an insight into useful models than can be applied to any business. The many case examples are very effective at giving real-world examples of concepts. The supplemental CourseMate materials are also extremely helpful for studying the text to retain knowledge."

About the Author
Hossein Bidgoli, Ph.D., is professor of Management Information Systems at California State University. Dr. Bidgoli helped set up the first PC Lab in the United States and served as its first director. He is the author of 45 textbooks, 27 manuals and more than five dozen technical articles and papers on various aspects of computer applications, information systems and network security, e-commerce and decision support systems published and presented throughout the world. Dr. Bidgoli also serves as the editor-in-chief of THE HANDBOOK OF TECHNOLOGY MANAGEMENT, THE INTERNET ENCYCLOPEDIA, THE HANDBOOK OF INFORMATION SECURITY, THE HANDBOOK OF COMPUTER NETWORKS, and THE ENCYCLOPEDIA OF INFORMATION SYSTEMS. THE ENCYCLOPEDIA OF INFORMATION SYSTEMS was a recipient of one of the Library Journal's Best Reference Sources for 2002. A timely new edition for an excellent textbook!

This is one of the best textbooks that I've used

This is one of the best textbooks that I've used. The author not only shows an incredible knowledge of the subject but also shows an understanding of students and their preferences. Most students don't like their textbooks for different reasons but usually its because they're hard to understand because of a lack of explanations and because the assigned reading chapters are overwhelmingly long. But this book provides great explanations with examples throughout as well as chapters that are short, sweet, and to the point. The book is very well organized and put together and the online support proved extremely helpful.
I would absolutely recommend this text. I am very pleased with this book and what I have learned from it.

Great book, even better online features.

This textbook is the best I have seen for MIS. Chapters are well written so that minimal reading is required to learn a great amount of information. Definitions are explained clearly and completely, and can be understood by anyone remotely familiar with technology.
Questions at the end of chapters combined with online practice questions are extremely useful study tools that enabled good grades in my course. Making flashcards and studying specific topics was easy with the online study bits feature.
With the well explained book and fantastic online features, I would definitely recommend this book to anyone learning MIS.
